What lies beyond the perception of reality? Alessia’s work delves into dogma, and how different states of consciousness can reveal or obscure what we think is truth. The exploration and ultimate questioning of her Catholic upbringing inspired Alessia to discover her own belief system rooted in Eastern philosophy and other schools of thought. 

Alessia’s ongoing series titled ‘New Religion’ chronicles our own beliefs while paying homage to sacred art. These mysterious objects feel alien, and futuristic, and at the same time, familiar and precious. Their weathered appearance explores the passage of time, and how something that is precious and sacred can be lost as values change. The open conical forms draw the viewer in and provide a place of quiet introspection that’s free from today’s distractions. Each piece represents an act of devotion. Sculptures are relics, speaking to something with ancient arcane power.
